...and then again, sometimes not. When he's not on the radio, pontificating about whisky, publishing books, kayaking, cycling, walking, gardening or messing about with old cars, he occasionally takes on writing jobs for people he likes or about things he's interested in.

He expects to be paid extremely well for this kind of stuff, unless it's in aid of a really worthwhile cause. He's good at it and he turns top quality text around very quickly.

He's not interested in endless PR faffing about, though. And you can't buy the by-line. Don't even ask.
